On the occasion of World Emergency Day, a training programme on Basic life Support was held at SDM College of Business Management Post Graduate Centre for Management Studies and Research, Mangaluru on May 26, 2025.

The programme was organized by Youth Red Cross Unit of the institution in association with KMC Hospital, Attavar, Mangalore.

Dr. Nikhil Paul, Consultant Emergency Physician and Assistant Professor – Emergency Medicine, Manipal Academy of Higher Education was the resource person.

He gave an insight on Cardiac Pulmonary resuscitation and also trained the students on how CPR must be provided to critically ill patients in emergency situation.

The resource person was assisted by Herbert Mario Periera, Executive and Dr. Poojitha, MD, Emergency Medicine. The students of the institute were given hands on experience on CPR procedure.

The resource person also highlighted about Automated External Defibrillator(AED) which is a portable, light weight device which treats sudden cardiac arrest. Students actively participated in the event and clarified many of their doubts.

The programme was presided by Director of the Institute, Dr. Seema S Shenoy. Corporate Club Coordinator Deepa Nayak P., Youth Red Cross Programme Officer Dr. Ramya Shetty were present.
